Videos saved to SDCard upload to YouTube no higher than 720p

I have recorded video as 1080p 60fps from my camera that are saved to the sdcard and when I upload the video to YouTube and then later watch the video from the YouTube app, I can't change the resolution to anything higher than 720p.

But if I record video and save it to local memory and then upload it, then I can watch the video as 1080p 60fps.

Anyone know why this is?
