Why do I have a second lock screen that I do not recall installing?

One day, this strange lock screen suddenly appeared on my Note4, completely uninvited. I have no clue how it got here and I want to get rid of it!

My wife has my old Note 4 on Verizon and also is seeing an additional lock screen that shows a picture.

Most likely you have an application that recently decided to "helpfully" add a lockscreen to show you how incredibly useful it is! ES File Explorer started doing this a while back. Check through your apps' configuration screens and see if there is something about a "status" screen or something enabled.

Peel Remote was the culprit on my and others phones. If you have it uninstall or disable it and that should make it go away.
