As I was trying to watch 4k videos on YouTube, it turns out the highest quality available is 1080p... Am i the only one that has that issue? On the Note 5 it would let me.

That should depends on the source. If the source is a 4K video, you get to watch the video in 4K. If 1080p, you get 1080p. Look at it this way, if you load a 4K video onto YouTube, people get to watch it in 4K. If you load 1080p, people will watch 1080p. On the PC, if you click the wheel button at bottom of video, you can see the different resolutions that is available. Sometimes YouTube will play the video in 1080p even though a 4K version is available if your connection is slow.

When I watch them the highest quality is 1440, but I changed my default screen resolution from FHD to UHD. On the Note 8, FHD is 2220x1080, while UHD is 2960x1440.

1440p is 4K If I do recall. I watch 4K videos on AT&T with no issues. Remember if you use Verizon the maxium video you can watch is 720p. If you pay the premium it's 1080p. They no longer allow higher than that anymore.

Well i have T-Mobile and I have unlimited data and I have my display setting at WQHD+ (2960x1440) and the highest option in the YouTube quality setting is 1080p. I can't get it above that...

This is WiFi and 4G LTE with AT&T. It does 1440p. This was a 4K video it claims. I think this issue os the Note 8 isn't a 4K screen. Just has a 4K camera. The screen resolution on the note is actually only 2960x1440 which is why we don't see 2160p videos.

What is your screen resolution set to? On Att, if I set mine to 720p, then the highest resolution offered by YouTube is also 720p.

Has absolutely nothing to do with the carrier unless you're on lte... Then its possible to limit based on bandwidth. I'm on wifi and the most i get is 1440

Paying a premium for LTE shouldn't have restrictions. If TMobile is restricting you to 1080 only on LTE I would find a new carrier. They are sub-par anyways..
