Why isn't my Galaxy S2 sensor working?

why my galaxy s2 sensor is not working

i have a problem with my galaxy s2 mobile. when iam on a call and when i keep my phone near to my ears then my sensors closes and when i put away from my ear it doesnt show me the screen. it just shows a black screen and iam not able to cut the call also. can anyone save me from this plz its a kind request.

Welcome to Android Central! Make sure the proximity sensor (which is right near the front-facing camera) is not obscured by anything, like a dirty screen protector or an ill-fitting case.
