on my new S21 Ultra, Google Maps is not showing my location with a car symbol as I'm driving along the streets. I looked over all the settings in Google Maps, and cannot find how to turn that on. I know this is a Google question, but thought since I am on this forum quite a bit, some folks might know the answer and can help me out.

I have a hand injury, and it's difficult for me to type. When I'm in a car, and the and the car is moving, in the past, I would see my own location slowly moving along the streets with a moving car icon. But with this new phone, no more.

Thank You.

Can you clarify -- is this after you've commenced Navigation, or when you're still on the route screen prior to tapping Start? Do you see anything at all, like an arrow? Show us a screenshot.

I had it where the route never showed blue line.....did a phone restart and works again. Maybe that will work for you

thank you both for your replies.

there is a "start" button after you put in your destination's address: first button on the bottom, far left button.

when i clicked that, say on my previous S20 Ultra, i would see a car icon starting at the starting point and the little car icon would move along the route.

there is NO CAR ICON at all yesterday when i was in a car.

live in a city here, so don't have a car unless i'm in a taxi/Uber.

After you tap "Start" to start your route, tap the circle that indicates your current position on the route. That should bring up on the bottom of the screen your choice of car symbols to use.

I agree with leerandall. If you don't have a car icon, you should at least see a large arrow in a circle, right?

I had just an arrow. No blue line for route. I went into settings and cycled the options for display, traffic, highways etc. Weird, I know. it just started to work after that.

I know that this probably won't help much or even at all, but this is how I fixed the same problem you have.
