Why does my S3 keep flashing on my Samsung Galaxy screen 1?

help; s3 keeps flashing on samsung galaxy screen1

My samsung galaxy s3 keeps flashing on the samsung galaxy screen, i have not done anything to damage the phone i put it on charge and when i came back to it about 10 minutes later is was just flashing on that screen, also when i plug in my charger it just flashed the battery sign with a circle in the middle, i have tried pressing the lock button/ home button and volume up button and nothing happens and when i press those but with the down button instead it says press the up button but it wont do anything when i do... what to do???
