Hi guys- long-time reader, first time poster...

I'm trying to root my S4 on a Mac, and was following a guide on this forum (I can't post links yet but it's at /optimus-v-rooting-roms-hacks/75629-there-how-root-manual-those-us-using-apple-computers.html#post809566 ). I can open SuperOneClick, but the "Shell Root" is not working. I think that the problem is something to do with the USB connection - firstly I don't think there is a way to go into 'charge mode', and secondly the phone doesn't come up as a device in Finder - the only way to interact with it is through a mac app called Android File Transfer. Does anyone have any ideas? And if I overcome this hurdle, will the drivers in the above link (which then leads to /misc-android-phones/42678-how-install-usb-drivers-lg-optimus-one.html) be okay or will I need to download a different set of drivers? Thanks in advance.

I have the GT-I19505, running 5.0.1, and my Mac is on OS 10.11.2
