add/delete notification bar

I am looking around videos and I've notice people having a mobile data icon in their notification panel. I do not have this icon. Is there a way I can get it? Thank youuuuu! I've looked around and couldnt find an answer.

All depends what your looking for.

Given the thread title I would say grab a third party launcher like Nova and there is an option to hide the notification bar.

Changing of data icons and other things in the notification bar is usually the result of a rooted device running a custom ROM or changing the icons on the stock ROM. Both which require root access.

That could depend. It maybe related to some app or custom theme they are running from a launcher like Go Launcher. But again it could be a rooted issue to change.

Pardon me if this sounds silly... but have you only been using a Wi-Fi connection?

Not sure about the S4, but touchwiz typically hides the mobile data icon in the notification bar when Wi-Fi is connected. If you've always been on Wi-Fi, you won't see it.

This could be a carrier related issue, as in the carrier opted to not provide the mobile data button?

Are you saying you don't have it in your notification panel or at all? When you are on the screen you posted touch the edit icon then move the Mobile Data button up a row or two and it will appear in your notification bar.

No problem. We've seen this before with the carriers removing certain things.

I know Nova Launcher can remove the notification bar... I have mine removed from the settings

My question i can't figure out is how can i put it back? Is there not a way to change what a certain icon does with root? For example could I not change the driving mode app to turn on moble data with root? anyone?

You can place the Icon back with root [MOD] Add Mobile Data & other Toggles to Quick Settings (Requires Sqlite & Root) - Page 8 - xda-developers

My ATT phone had the data quick toggle with stock 4.2.2. It was no longer available as a quick toggle once I did the ota upgrade to stock 4.3
