Galaxy S5: Emails Icon on home screen shows the number of unread emails

Hi all,

I just bought my galaxy S5, configured the emails account with the stock app on the S5 and now on the home screen, it shows me on top of the Emails icon, the number of unread emails and that's really annoying. What can i do to have that "badge"removed? I don't whant to use a 3rd party app, i like the stock one and also i'm hesitant to reset my phone. Is there any solution to this problem?

yes, very annoying. I would be ok with new emails, but not all emails
