Office 365 and permissions

Hello all,
I wanted my office 365 calendar to sync to my phone. I attempted to add my office 365 account and then it told me ALL of the permissions it needed. They wanted complete control over my phone. Is there anyway around this, this cant be normal. Thanks in advance

Remember that individual permissions can be very broad. An app as big and as multifaceted as Office 365 is bound to require a lot of permissions. There is no way on Android to turn off individual permissions--doing this would potentially interfere with the proper functioning of the app, and cause crashes. A well-established company like Microsoft will be much less likely to abuse those permissions than some obscure gaming company.
