Samsung pay just doesn't work reliably with iPad cash registers?

My Samsung Pay works 65% of the time with regular card readers, but 0% of the time with iPad-looking card readers at fast food restaurants. Does anyone have the same problem with those tablet/ipad looking check-out devices?

I've never had issues at Chili's and Olive Gardens in San Diego. I've used it with hand-held terminals and even Square readers on phones and no problems. With some readers, however, you do have to find the right spot where the magnetic reader is. That means that in some it might be on a side, not really on top.
