Creating custom icons from pictures on the Galaxy s7 edge

Hello,

I'd like to change my icons using pictures, to obtain plain "color block" or "textured" squares, with no drawings or logos at all.
I used to have an LG G2 which allowed me to do this very simply.
Is there a way to do this easily on the s7 edge? Perhaps you know of a simple program for "beginners" to create icon packs?

It can be done using Nova Launcher...

Not sure about the stock UI

Awesome Icons will let you create custom icons for desktop shortcut icons only.

It works with various icon packs or you can make your own using images from your device.

Again, this is only for custom desktop icons. But it works well.
