No more updates

As the 8 active has been left out of future updates, I can't find a good dark theme app. The dark os option works on many things, but even Gmail has left the lights on.
My os details are below. T-mobile provider.
Any suggestions on how to get dark mode universally? Am I stuck?
The apps I've tried were worse than the os option.

There is Night Mode, which has been on. It's always worked, since it installed, in the same limited way. My reading shows Samsung decided not to update in any way the 8 active, even before 2 years went by. I think we're (8active owners) all having the same shortcomings.
There are many apps, a few I've tried, but all were worse than the Night Mode. Hoping someone has found some workaround.
