S9+ Same Price As Note 9?

I'm ready to upgrade my S7. I made a post about it over in the Note 8 forum. When the topic of upgrading to the Note 9 comes up, the first thing that is mentioned is price. The Note 9 starts out at a very expensive $1k. Many message boards and websites mention that if you're ready to upgrade, look to the S9+, as it's basically the same hardware for much cheaper. According to Samsung's website, I can get the Note 9 for $1 more per month than the S9+ after trading in my S7. The Note 9 is $31/month compared to $30/month for the S9+ on Verizon's network. Price will definitely play a factor in my upgrade. But for just $1 more per month, I may as well get the latest and greatest. Am I missing something?

Is there a down payment with that? Or is the S7 worth more for the Note than for the S9? S9+ (for the 128GB version) is 790 (690 if unlocked) vs 1000 for the Note 9. Verizon's promo is a 2x1 on the Note 9, not sure for the S9+.

You do get a similar experience, but the Note 9 has a bigger battery, improved internals, S-Pen and a bigger screen, so not really 'the same'. That being said, if you don't mind the smaller battery and don't think you'll use the S-Pen, yes, the S9+ is a GREAT alternative.

This is about the same boat I am in currently, and I need to make a decision this week as I am still within my 14 day return policy. Decisions, decisions. I haven't had a note in years, I never used the S Pen much much that screen size would be what I am after.

Yes, Samsung is offering a better trade in value for Note 9 pre-orders. I believe I would get $250 for my S7 towards a Note 9 opposed to only around $50 towards a S9+. How much larger is the Note 9 than the S9+. Coming from the S7, I'm afraid it may be too big of a jump.

From the S9+ to the Note 9 is a tad wider and taller (pretty much like the Note 8), but if you're coming from an S7, yeah, you'll feel the difference. Both are definitely not one-handed devices. Note is obviously a bit heavier, too.

But if you're getting basically the same price for either, I'd say go for the Note. Worst case scenario, you can sell it and you'd get more for it than you would for an S9+.

I upgraded from the Note 8 to the S9+ but will be bypassing the Note 9. I found I liked the idea of the S-Pen, but rarely used it. Like was mentioned, the hardware is nearly the same, with a large SD card I have tons of storage, the camera us superb, and the S9+ is ever so slightly smaller, it's the perfect size for me. My vote is for the S9+.

I think I'm ready for a bigger phone. I don't like the fact that you have to settle for lower specs if you want the regular sized S9. Is the size of the s9+ and note 9 close enough to where you probably wouldn't notice a difference, unless directly compared side by side?

Note 9 with 512GB ROM and 8GB RAM? Or 128GB ROM and 6GB RAM?

I tried them side by side at the store and you definitely notice the Note is bigger in your hand. At first glance you might not, but once you hold them, then you can tell. It's not a huge difference (see below) but enough to make it noticeably to how you can hold it in one hand.

Galaxy Note 9 - 161.9 x 76.4 x 8.8 mm (6.37 x 3.01 x 0.35 in), 201 g (7.09 oz)
Galaxy S9 Plus - 158.1 x 73.8 x 8.5 mm (6.22 x 2.91 x 0.33-inch), 189g (6.67 oz)
