Can my daughter text her friend with "icloud" email from a Samsung Tablet?

My daughter wants to use her Samsung Galaxy Tab2 7.0 to send text messages to her friends with Apple devices.

However, her friends don't have phone numbers but they have "icloud" email addresses.

Is there an app that I can install or purchase for android which would allow her to text her friend with the icloud email?

Please help. Thanks.

Her friends are probably all using Messages and the iMessage protocol which is a very closed Apple system. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do. Either they need Google accounts (which I believe can be used in iMessage/Messages so no app needed) or some other cross-platform chat client or your daughter needs a device that can "talk" to that system.

I checked, sadly Messages is NOT an app available on iCloud.com or that would be an option.

So if she uses an ipod touch instead of a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, could she install a 3rd part app on the ipod touch that would allow her to text us (mom and dad) who have Samsung S5 phones?

You can get Hangouts for the iPod Touch and use her existing Google account. The iPod would require an iTunes/iCloud/Apple account for use with iMessage, no need to create it as an iCloud email account, just use her Google account and her friends can then message her on that account.

She actually wants both. She wants to text her friends using icloud and also text us (parents) using Samsung Galaxy S5 phones. Can Hangouts do both? (icloud and cell phone texting)

So I install Hangouts on the ipod touch and setup a google account for her? (She does not have one now as she was using my google account on the Samsung Tablet)

Is this correct?
