Why Isn't My Gear Fit 2 Connecting to Samsung Gear App?

Hey everyone, I have a Moto E 1st gen phone through Republic Wireless. After 5-6 dead Fitbits, I decided to try the Samsung Gear Fit 2. Problem is, the Samsung Gear app can't detect it. My phone detects it through bluetooth fine, but the *app* doesn't.

I installed samsung gear, the gear manager and the gearfit2: plugin. It has not helped.
