Auto Switch not working

I have a Gear S3 Classic and a Frontier. Up until about the last update, auto switch worked great. Ever since around that time, if I switch watches, it will disconnect the other watch, but will not connect the one I just put on automatically. I think there was also an update to the gear app around the same time, but I didn't notice it right away. Anyone else seeing a similar issue?

As an aside, this also made me notice that when my watch isn't connected to my phone, my car's Bluetooth audio from my phone tends to skip occasionally. It's a UConnect system on a 2013 Chrysler 300s. Kind of a weird problem to have.
