How to partition SD card to use as a internal SD card (I Have OVER 1GB of space!!!!!!!)

Phoenix ROM installation Instructions
INSTRUCTIONS:
Download/extract PhoeniX-ROM. zip from the below links
Copy PhoeniX.zip to your SD card
Reboot your phone to "download" mode (adb.exe reboot download or hold space + p during boot)
Open the included Odin
Select "One Package" if not already checked in the options area
Click the ops button to search for the included "SPHM580. ops"
Now click the One Package button to search for "PhoeniX. tar"
Click start, and hold U on your phone as soon as it reboots to enter recovery mode (CWM5)
Once CWM5 starts, click install from SD card
Choose install a zip from SD card
Navigate to "PhoeniX.zip"
Choose yes to install
Wait it will

Although you can certainly create an external "data" partition of any size on your SD card, I think you'll find that, as a practical matter, you can only utilize about 512MB because a portion of each app goes onto the internal cache, and once that fills up, it doesn't matter how much space is left in your external data partition. I'd say go ~700MB max, otherwise you're just wasting SD card space that you can use for music files, etc. See the section 3 "caveat" at the following link.

Is the amount cache a fixed size per app, or do larger apps create larger caches? i.e. is there something to be gained by installing a multi-purpose app over a few smaller single purpose apps to get to the same functionality on the phone?

Different apps store different amounts of stuff in you cache, data, and system partitions so there is POTENTIALLY an advantage to installing a multipurpose app, but it's also possible that 3 single-purpose apps would be smaller than one multipurpose app. The only way to know is to load them up and then go into settings/applications/manage applications and total up the usage (or look at the usage according to Link2SD if you're using that).
