sdcard process draining battery

Frequently my battery will show heavy drain from the sdcard process. I don't have a card inserted, and the process drain doesn't appear to have a reliable connection to any particular photo activities or lack thereof. I've poked around for solutions, but they all seem to be for a malfunctioning card. Any thoughts would be appreciated; screenshot below.

i have the same problem. My battery is draining 30% in an hour. What could be causing this?

Could hard reset help it?

Hard reset is definitely a good option. However, before you do that, check if Google Now is turned on. If it is, and you don't need the Google Now feature, turn it off, and see if that helps to check the rapid battery drain. It helped slow the battery drain on my GS3. Thanks.
