Turn off camera flash

I want to use my phone to take pictures of my tv, and get great pictures on the phone's screen when setting up the shot. However, when I actually go to take the picture, the camera's flash turns the picture into a white screen. How would I go about turning off the camera's flash when I take a picture?

How do I turn my camera light on?

click on the camera icon.
Toggle the lighting icon to the desired setting.
Flash icon Lightning with nothing = Flash will activate on every picture.
Flash off icon Lightning with slash = Flash is disabled.
Flash Auto icon Lightning with A = Auto-detect flash.
