cracked screen

Anybody did a screen replacement on a Nexus S ? I cracked mine - it's only the glass on top of the amoled, as the phone works perfectly for the last month with the crack on it. Samsung wants to charge me about $169, I thougth I can get it fixe for cheaper by buying a kit and replacing it myself.

Wouldn't the yask to see the phone when you buy the warranty after the initial sale?
