1-yr contract?

i might be siwtching to VZW for this phone--
but am seriously debating the
a) buy from Verizon on one year contract (and just tack on the $70, or whatever amount of 1 year contract fee on the phone, to the price of the phone when i sell it on ebay to recoup my losses)
OR
b) buy from Best Buy with enrollment in the BuyBack program and hope that something awesome comes out in the next 6 months (fictional MSRP=$599, buyback program gives me $300, then i pay the remaining X amount for a brand new phone)

but..here's the question...is the BuyBack program providing BestBuyCredit, or cash? hmm

oh Thunderbolt--how you tease me with your timid release dates...here's hoping the 24th is gonna stick

UPDATE: it's in the form of a BestBuy giftcard...
hmm, might be easier just to sell it on Ebay or Craigslist and assume it'll go for more than $300, esp if there's any type of warranty and you can get a brand new one before re-selling it.

Am I the only one getting the TB on a two year contract!? Wow!

No, I always get a 2 year contract. I dont mind having the same phone for 2 years at all, but when my contract is up I try to get the best phone available at the time. Right now its the thunderbolt...if it ever comes out that is :p

Verizon 1yr might be the way to go--

especially if you are technically off-contract @ month 13 and could sign up for a new contract to get the 'new customer' type of pricing that's average about $250 or so on most phones

or do 1yr contracts negate this feature? (thinking over the NE2 but uncertain how it affects end-of-contract customers who could just as easily cancel the service, then sign up again as brand new customers for the promotional pricing on phones)
