1080p video with mhl

Will the Google edition support MHL video like the normal S4?

What I would like to do is use it to play Google play movies and if possible .m4v and mp4 movies on an any hdmi capable TV. That way I wouldn't need to bring my Nexus 10 when I wanted to watch a movie somewhere.

I guess the 2 questions I have are

1. Does the S4 smoothly play movies over mhl hdmi
2. Will the Google Edition support MHL

I'm sure someone has tried the filtered Google Edition ROM on their S4...
