With the #10yearchallenge being quite the trend I thought it would be cool to have a nice throwback of thr smartphones we had back in 2009 versus what we are using in. 2019

If you can post a real pic of your 2009 device go ahead but otherwise just use a generic pic.

I'll start:

I had a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic back in 2009 and have a Huawei Mate 20 Pro in early 2019.

I used to be a big Symbian fan, and thoroughly enjoyed the 5800 XpressMusic, however the resistive display and aging UI were getting long in the tooth, glad I made the jump to Android in 2010 though.

What did you have in 2009 vs. What you have in 2019?

2009 I was rocking my very first Android: The OG Motorola Droid. (Switched from a BlackBerry Pearl 8510). Never looked back after that, but I do have to give credit to BlackBerry for making me a smartphone addict. A couple years later came the Galaxy S2 and it's been a slew of Galaxies for me ever since.

Currently rocking a Note 9 (Midnight Blue).

Nice one. I I absolutely loved the Motorola DROID, down here it was sold as the Motorola Milestone.

I didn't have a smartphone in 2009, I had a Nintendo DSi back then:

Now I'm currently using the Pixel:

I think I had the Samsung Omnia running Windows Mobile. Ooh yeah, bad times.:'(

Currently have a Pixel 2 XL. It's, um, better.:p

Wow, yeah time flies. I had Nokia 5130 express music and now I have Samsung S6. Getting old, need a new smartphone :(

In 2009 ,I started using the Blackberry 8330 used on Alltel (part of which got bought out by Verizon).
It did not even have GPS I had to use a puck paired with my phone to use GPS type apps.

In June 2010 I got my first Android phone The Droid Incredible. I have been using Android ever since .

Fast forward to present, The Android Phone I am using is the Pixel 2 XL (Panda)

Palm Centro. If I remember correctly, I was on T-Mobile and was going to Sprint due to saving money. I wanted something with a keyboard and with more smartphone capability compared to my Sidekick slide that was pretty locked down. This phone was my absolute FAVORITE next to my Lumia 900. I felt organized and although the screen was small and youtube (although just becoming mainstream) was hard to watch on my breaks, I enjoyed it. Then adding NES roms on there was the icing on the cake. I miss this phone

Now I have the Galaxy Note 9. I'm back on sprint but this isn't really my ideal network. The phone however is a BEAST. The stylus has helped with meetings. I feel a lot more organized with this real estate and being able to split screen. The battery has lasted me all day everyday since I got it a few months ago. Even on a couple of days of starting with only half the battery I was still able to make it home with charge to spare.

Didn't have a smartphone in 2009. Was still using a flip phone (Samsung or Moto). My mobile media and internet device was the Sony PSP which used small discs for movies and games.

The first somewhat smart phone I had was the Pantech Link in 2010 which was heavily influenced by Blackberries. It had a 2.4" screen, no headphone jack, physical QWERTY keyboard, 1 MP camera, microSD support up to 32 GB, GPS, Bluetooth, web browser and a few apps (Youtube, music, maps, messages, voice recorder). Was a pretty rugged phone. Never worried about cracking the back or screen.

My current daily phone is the Panda Pixel 2XL.

Thanks a lot, this post sent me on a hunt to find my PSP and then another hunt to find its charger , got it as a Bday gift from my mother when I was like 15years old in 2005 in high school.

Eventually found both, along with the leather Capdase case and 2 Memory Sticks I got with it, 1 is 512MB the other is 1GB and NFS Carbon in the disk tray.

And now I am in pure nostalgia playing the music I had in it, the last time I had booted this thing was in 2007 , so it's like I have been taken back to what 17 year old me was like.

I also got my PSP as a gift around the same time when I was in high school. It came bundled with a protective sleeve, a couple games and a memory stick. Recently found the PSP with a bunch of discs. Charged it up and watched one of the movies I had. Screen looks pretty good for a nearly 15 year old device.

Wow. I had to do a bit of digging to make sure I got this right lol. If there is one thing that I see hasn't changed much is the form factor of phones I tend to use.

Time has really flown by because the phone I used 10 years ago I absolutely loved and was hard to put down. 10 years ago I used a Samsung Jack i637. It was a great phone that really paved the way for the way I use phones today; for productivity. It also led me to start using blackberry phones. I currently use a Blackberry Keyone Black Edition.

Keyboards phones have been my thing for years now and my guess is that they are here to stay.

I should save this for the 20-year challenge (device is from the year 2000), but I recently found my first 'smart' device at home: Palm m105.

At the time I was rocking a Samsung Slim STH-N275 (and that wasn't my first cellphone... wow, I'm getting old! hahaha)

Oh man, I have to dig up my Axim X51v. I actually tried to power it up a few weeks ago, but alas, I think the battery is completely dead.
