1) Be sure that you are not experiencing the "muffled voice" issue. If the folks you are calling are asking you to repeat yourself, or to speak louder, return/exchange the device. Even if you feel it's not enough of a nuisance, now, beware, because it may get MUCH worse over time, as mine did.
2) Be sure that your screen isn't experiencing any touch oddities. Again, what starts out as an annoyance, can grow worse.
There are threads here and also over on the Motorola corporate board, which cover these issues. The muffled voice thread, on the Moto corporate board has hundreds of posts, so it's not a minor problem, in spite of what certain people here might try to tell you.
You may have to return the device numerous times, before you get one which is not defective. But don't let that stop you, while you are still in the 30 day buyers remorse period. In a worst case scenario, forget the Atrix entirely, and buy a different device. There's plenty to choose from which are not defective.
Well, so far (knock on wood) I haven't experienced any muffled sound issues. Whenever I ask people how I sound, they always say great. I am concerned about the dropped calls issue though. I rarely experienced dropped calls on my BB, but it happens 1-2x per day with the Atrix. I can't figure out why I would get so many dropped calls since I'm still with ATT, so I'm sort of thinking it's the phone and not the network. The odd thing is, it's not so much that I lose the call altogether, though that does happen. It's more that all of a sudden, the person at the other end can't hear me, but I can hear them just fine. It takes about 10 minutes for me to get the call to stick but, when I call a Verizon number in between dials, that call goes through just fine. So, maybe it -is- ATT and not the phone. I just don't know.
The touch screen is a bit sensitive in some areas while not so much in others. On certain parts of the screen, I can just wave my finger over the button and it activates it, while on the spacebar and home button on the bottom require two taps to work. There are some inconsistencies that yes, are an annoyance, but I don't want to be picky beyond reason.
I also discovered that I can't video chat with clients who are using iPhones. That's an issue for me because they can't install Qik or Tango due to network restrictions by their companies. They are allowed to use skype, which of course, I can't use. This has already been a problem for me. I assumed (there I go again) that with the advertising about video chatting on the Atrix, I thought I'd be able to do it with no problem. Unfortunately, many of the companies I work with dropped BB and went immediately to the iPhone. If anyone has any new news about this issue, I'd really appreciate hearing it.
Lastly, and I should have looked this up before but, the SAR rating on the Atrix is not very good. That concerns me, but of course that has nothing to do with the functioning of the phone.
The only other thing I'm a little concerned about is battery life. I've cycled this battery several times and still, it lasts only about 4 hours before I have to charge it again. I would expect the battery to fade quickly if I played games or did other power intensive things, but I don't. Browsing the web a little, a lot of talking and emailing shouldn't cause the battery to go that fast, should it?
