hey i recently saw this pic on the internet of a supposed micro sdhc from kingston and correct me if im wrong but it says 128gb
can anyone confirm if this is in the works or a fake? or maybe a leak

yea you might be right but i never rule out the fact that there might have been a leak or something since the pic is in such low quality maybe it was not meant to be seen. either way... imagine how many movies we would be able to put in that thing!!!? i would soooo store my whole porn collection for viewing on the go haha

Its real. Or a fake copy of a REAL card.

After I got back from a whirlwind at CES this year; I knew SD/Micro SD cards would never be the same.

I looked at them all the way up to 1tB! Those will be out later this year.

I know many of you kids haven't seen them in your local best buy, but that doesn't make it "not on the market." Trust me, they're out there ;)

Sandisk is going to be releases 1TB SD cards next year aimed at us photo guys, but I don't like cards over 8gb for that stuff.
Look for the price to be in the 300-400 dollar range.

While yes, this all may be real, it doesnt work in your device, and who knows when it may be supported, so nothing to get all excited about! still awaiting support for the 32gb. :P

Exactly.
Kind of off topic but when I shoot weddings, sporting events, etc. I use smaller cards so if one goes bad all is not lost.

Actually, Panasonic said they'd have the 1tB out at the end of this year!

I'm the same way when I go out for shoots. Id rather have a few small cards then one large one.

If that card were real, it would probably be about $3,000 haha

C'mon Cory, who doesn't have an extra 3k layin around they can spend on a memory card ;) if you need one when it's released, lemme know!

well next year there's is going to be a one TB sdhc and IBM is creating a whole new way of
storing memory so you never know.

haha hell no i will never pay over $100 again for a memory card. i rememember back in the day when i first got a memory card for my psp and it was $100... storage capacity:512mb lol wow

There was a lot of talk years ago on the photo forums on the topic of if it was better to have fewer large cards or many small cards and a lot of the folks seemed to favor many small cards. This was at a time when a large card was 4GB so the preference was for more like 4 1GB cards.

Fast forward to today and now the small cards are 4GB and many photogs use 8GB and larger cards. Hmmm, something isn't adding up.

What's better, have all your eggs in one very large reliable card that you don't have to swap out very often risking damage or many smaller cards that have to be swapped out much more often increasing the risk of damage. I'll take the larger card over the smaller card. Of course you could get several large cards and swap them out well before they are full -- that way you are covered during those times when you are inclined to swap out but something happens that you need to shoot. With a smaller card you could miss something that can NEVER be recaptured whereas the larger cards gives you more options.

If you're shooting a pro DSLR like the Canon 1DsIV or Nikon D3x the RAW files will be about 25MB give or take and with a 16GB card that's over 600 photos. Two such cards should cover almost any wedding and a single card should be enough for most. Get a good card (Sandisk Extreme III/IV) and learn how to use the rescue software, download to your laptop and make copies to a couple external HD's and you will be safer than film ever was.
