15+ Years with Sprint and just about done

I've been with sprint for ages now, and I recently moved states and since I've been here (a month+) I have had NO service. It's not because the Sprint coverage here is awful, it's because they are having issues with my phone communicating with the tower and nothing has been done with it.

I've about had it, and T-Mobile is the only one that seems to fit my budget.

I'm trying to find the best plan, deal, and everything and I wanted to get some 'expert' advice from the actual people who use tmo.

Things I'm looking for:

Minutes: The least amount possible, probably 100minutes or less (don't talk much)
Texting: Has to be unlimited, text quite often.
Data: Definitely negotiable, usually have access to wireless, but for the times I'm out I'd like to have a gig at least.
Monthly Price: Cheapest possible with the above requirements.

With sprint, there used to be a SERO plan, which was like exclusively for employees, but it was shared with everyone who knew how to find it. Is there such a thing with tmo? Or what are their "deep" discounts that people can get?
 
Isn't there a special Walmart plan with Tmo?
Not sure of the details anymore or if it still exists but was pretty awesome! Something like 30$ for unlimited TXT, 100mins and unlimited (though likely throttled) Data.
The loophole as I recall was you needed to buy one of their phones so just get the 25$ through-away one they offer and pop in the SIM.

I did actually see that one, but that's the other thing, I really don't want a crappy throw-away phone. I would like to get a decent phone (actually the SIII). But that was one of the plans I was looking at, now if only there was a way to get the SIII after the sub price.

Didn't say you need to keep it - toss the 25$ phone away and just keep the SIM cuz that's the important part.

You don't have to buy a crappy phone. There is no restrictions on that plan. Get a phone you want (t-mobile 4g phones if you want 4g) and order a sim activation kit from t-mobile for $.99. I would order the activation kit first as it takes a few days to arrive.
 
Ah ok gotcha. Of course buying one I'd have to pay full price (if I got it from T-Mo directly) right? There's no way to get a subsidized price with that type of plan?

This is why post-paid cell phone providers only allow this level of pricing every other year. If they subsidize phones more often, then they often are not making a profit on that customer.

Anyone else who has T-Mo have any advice? What individual plans are you guys using and how much are you paying? With/Without discount.

I believe it's throttled back after 5G a month. Just be sure you don't need more than 100 mons a month.

I'm using the t-mobile $30 a month plan and it's been great! You do get 100 minutes, unlimited texting, and 5 gigs of 4g data, after that it is throttled to 2g (EDGE) speeds. You may be able to pick up an S3 used for a little less than full price, but you'd be saving so much using the $30 a month plan over the course of a normal contract that in the long run it costs way less to but it outright.

Also, since you have used Sprint and it is usable I am your area (just not with your current phone), have you thought about switching to a Sprint MVNO like Virgin Mobile or Boost Mobile?
 
If anyone was curious, I got a T-Mobile Value Plan (1000 minutes + 2gig data), with discount, and the BOGO phones (S3/S2). It's a pretty good deal, so I was happy about it! Glad to have service finally.

I'm leaving Sprint after 11 or so years for different reasons: I'm sick of their spotty service, slow 3G and apparent lack of interest in deploying 4G in Phoenix.

Things I'm looking for:

Minutes: The least amount possible, probably 100minutes or less (don't talk much)

Data: Definitely negotiable, usually have access to wireless, but for the times I'm out I'd like to have a gig at least.

Based on your needs, have you considered going prepaid with T-Mo? You have to bring your own compatible GSM device and buy their SIM kit online for $0.99, but they do have a $30/mo. prepaid plan that gives you 100 minutes, unlimited text and 5GB of high-speed data (throttled afterwards).

I'm looking at activating one of their higher prepaid tiers (either the $50 or $60 one) on an unlocked Galaxy Nexus. I still need more than 100 voice minutes, though because I travel a lot.

It may be possible to still pay less depending on exactly how many minutes you need, because the rate for minutes after the 100 is 10 cents per minute, which is essentially an extra 10 dollars per 100 minutes. So, you could have the $30 plan and pay for an extra 200 minutes for 20$,making it a total of $50 with the 5gb of data,instead of 200mb on the regular 50$ plan :-)

Of course this only works if you don't need many more than 100 :-) (up to 300 total or so)

Yeah, I thought about that, but after looking at a few of my past Sprint bills, I've been racking up north of 700 minutes per month, on average. As a freelancer, I still have lots of clients that get chatty on the phone. If it weren't for that, I probably wouldn't use much in the way of voice minutes at all.

So, I'm thinking that the $60 Monthly 4G plan from T-Mo (unlimited voice/text, data throttle at 2GB) may work out for me pretty well. I have good WiFi at my home office and most of the places I go have decent WiFi as well.
 
I'm on the same boat as same of you guys as well. I have an GNex on sprint but i'm not out of contract of until may 2014 but i might leave. I'm just tired of their data speeds and i can't take it anymore. I have had no problems with their customer service at all. They have been great with me but the data is what has me upset. I get only 0.01 MB at my house and nothing more then up to 1 MB around southern california in cities like pomona, corona, chino/chino hills, riverside. These are not small cities. So i'm just debating to go to T-mobile or ATT? idk
