1st impressions and review of the Tab Pro 8.4 Updated 2/14

Re: 1st impressions of the Tab Pro 8.4

No nice cases as yet but give it a week or two and I'm sure amazon will be busting with them, hey do have an ivso on there right now, but it's the type with the metal clasp, i wouldn't touch one of those

Another reason why I traded in for G Pad...accessories. Should be much better case selection for the Tab Pros.

Oh and the person said the screen looks blue, it's the nexus 5 camera, just tried it on black which was quite black but through the no camera it was very blue, so it's the camera and not the tablet that gives the blue hue

Great thanks! I am not in US and cannot have a look at it by myself. So I'm looking forward to your photos.

In this retina age, the screen quality is a big issue. I have a Retina Ipad mini for my family. Its screen is half dark and slight blue on the edges. The screen of LG G Pad also holds me back.

Another issue bothers me is pad app. Most of iOS apps have HD (pad) version, and resolutions of Apple devices are simple. However, there do not seem to be so many android HD apps. I doubt whether android apps designed for phone or other resolutions fit pad. Next week I will borrow a nexus 7 gen 2 from my friend to check it out.

Re: 1st impressions of the Tab Pro 8.4

I have one of the IVSO cases on another tablet. On mine the metal tab pulled off reasonably easy with no lose of functionality. No guarantee but it might work.

Re: 1st impressions of the Tab Pro 8.4

Does the the IVSO have the automatic on/off when you close the cover? Had that feature on the Nexus and now can't live without it. Thanks

Re: 1st impressions of the Tab Pro 8.4

I read somewhere that the IVSO cases are fairly heavy. Is that true? Do it like yours? I was thinking of getting it for Amazon, but worried the shipping will take a long time (it's not sold by Amazon directly).

But back to the topic of this thread. My own impressions are very good so far. Screen is beautiful and the device is very snappy (compared to my old Galaxy Tab 8.9). Also like the more compact size.

Not a big fan of the IVSO cases. I would wait until Samsung's official cases or some of the bigger players. Samsung is a huge name so they'll be out.

Actually I checked the Samsung online store and they now have the case in stock so I ordered it.

Re: 1st impressions of the Tab Pro 8.4

I cannot bring myself to spend $50 on a case, i need one but i just cannot do it lol

The IVSO cases looks pretty good but concerned about reports of them being too heavy. Really want a case that snuggly fits the tablet without adding much weight. Also concerned about how long it will take to ship. The seller's site on Amazon says it can be up to 27 business days. Really don't want to have the tablet unprotected for that long.

Re: 1st impressions of the Tab Pro 8.4

Was the screen on full brightness when you got the 6-7 hours of battery life?

Re: 1st impressions of the Tab Pro 8.4

No i never use full brightness on any tablet, its on about 40%, same in the pictures

I understand he just got it and the battery has to settle in, that's why I said it may be and didn't say it is disappointing.

It does sound like battery life may be the weak link in this tablet. It pretty much figures as it is only 4800mAh right? That's a small battery to power such an energy demanding screen.

Just want to add that as a music player this thing is awesome, really impressed and the battery is holding up really well
