1st impressions and review of the Tab Pro 8.4 Updated 2/14

Sassy. The previously released note 10.1? Did you consider the tab pro 10.1? I'm now considering that instead as the 8.4 is not much different than my note 3 and it's pointless to use in landscape mode like people typically do with tablets.

Never considered the 2014 10.1 or the new 10.1 TabPro since I have a Ipad Air. The 8.4 is great I could throw it in to my purse, very light and as mention before the screen is gorgeous. I have the Note 3 as well and the 8.4 goes well with it, I just wanted a bigger tablet hence the reason for the 12.2 Note Pro.

Alright completed testing, as far as I'm concerned anyway. I was using MXpro with hardware decoder active, 100% brightness, WIFI on, Bluetooth on, and GPS on, volume at 50%. 720p mp4 movie on continues loop. With the battery at 100% fresh off the charger the Video ran 5.5 hours. I ran video full time. Quit at 15%

In standard room lighting, how dim of a screen do you think you tolerate watching? 40 pct? Less?

The quality of the movie has a lot to do with it. But 40 to 50 percent looks good in standard home lighting. I have not tested outside yet.

So does the apps to SD functionality mentioned by the OP work for all apps? That's the only way I could get by with a 16gb tab.

Frellingfrakker do u mind sharing your needs for a bigger internal storage? Lots of music? Apps?

Mainly apps and backups. My current tablet is a Transformer Prime 32 GB. It only has 1 GB free with no mp3s or movies stored. I always have a nandroid backup plus TiBu backups of my apps which is a few gigs but many HD games take up over 1 or 2 GB by themselves so apps and games are most of the space.

So I just got my black 8.4, the back feels much better than it did on the white one.... I've also gone and ordered a 10.1 tab pro.... I just cannot help myself lol

Re: 1st impressions of the Tab Pro 8.4

Has Samsung retained the "users" settings on the 8.4 Pro (as found on Nexus Android tablets) with the ability to setup other users and "restricted" users?

Yes you can add users, its in settings> general>users>plus sign

Thx for the update. They do remove this settings for phones so was unsure how samsung was going to handle this option for this tablet. The restricted user option in combination with sd card ( not available nexus tablets ) is a great option for corporate market (training devices etc)

I know, my family say I need an intervention haha, I'll do a side by side video this weekend, I get the 10.1 tomorrow

My family thinks the same thing. I'm trying to hold back. I bought the 8.4 yesterday. I love it coming from the Note 8.0, so much nicer. I always felt the 8 inch tab was a perfect size. I'm really tempted to take it back for the 10.1 pro. Just not sure....

I did that, i bought a Note 3 on Saturday and it made the 8.4 useless really, so i went with the 10.1 and dont regret it one bit, the Exynos in the 10.1 is just as fast
