I was going to wait for Sprint to do the official release but I got a little anxious and did the switch on my own with help from Woldy2. I loved my phone before but now I love it even more. I can't put it down. I did the 2.1 upgrade and rooted my phone to take care of the stock apps that Sprint sticks us with. There are a lot of new things and I think everyone will be surprised at what the upgrade has to offer.

Thanks again Woldy2 for all of your help.

I just switched today from the Hero to the Moment, can anyone lead me to a simple/clean cut explanation of how to root the moment and suggest a good rom for 2.1? thanks.

Go to SDX developers web site and they have the 2.1 rooted kernel, Been running it now for a while, Love it

since the leak the 2.1 SDX versions are alot better!.. my phone is actually running just like it did when i had the 1.5 custom kernal from SDX. IF you want 2.1 and are afraid of having a buggy phone fear not no more.. DD10 2.1 . Rooted version 7 and remove bloatware from sprint fixes things

Easy way to 2.1 after playing with this easy to use explanation it will give you the ability and confidence to play with custom rom's if you so choose. But this is the "DUMMY" version to get 2.1 on your Moment.

2.1 is really sweet! For me dd10 has a lot of bugs though. The original 2.1 works great! The only issue is that the market wont download apparently. It's like the reception dies. Very weird. Just a reboot solves it though.

I also have 2.1 and love it! Having issues with YouTube, both in browser and app. Always gets the error...

I am new to the moment, so this might sound dumb. But how do I know if my phone has the 2.1 upgrade? What is rooting and ROM??

if you got your phone and havent put 2.1 on it, then you dont have it...if you go into setting => about phone, you can see the version and everything that you are running

rooting is really admin access to your phone...lets you remove bloatware (sprints applications Nascar, sprint tv, etc) and do some other customizations to your phone. a rom is really just a setup that is premade using a theme or applications that make it easier to setup since its already done

Thanks Woldy2!!! I was looking at the utube instructions to download 2.1 and it was saying that the 2.1 would have the baseband versoin S:M900.8.OS.CL14. Well when I look at mine, it has that number?? So I'm not sure what to do on that one? Help... :)

if your baseband version ends with cl14 then you are on 1.5 which is the current stock version until the official 2.1 comes out...there is a leaked version of 2.1 you can manually install which will make the baseband version DD03.

as for rooting your phone...
decide if you want to keep 1.5 or do the leaked 2.1 (its up to you which you wanna do since the official release is rumored to come out within a week or two)...after that you gotta install a file or two on your phone and you have root

Ok... So it sounds like you are an expert :) so would you suggest I go ahead and install 2.1 or wait?? I keep reading about how great it is. I love this phone, minus a few small things that, from what I read, the 2.1 will fix...

i personally say try the leaked 2.1...its awesome so its worth it in my opinion..but there are downsides like the batterylife and a couple other little tweaks you gotta do afterwards to get things like streaming fixed

You can always go back to stock
