2.2 Battery Life

Just a word of note, if you also upgraded Facebook for Android, that might be the culprit. They just posted (on Facebook) that they're aware of increased battery drain and know the issue already, and that an update should be available soon. The timing might just be coincidental since the 2.2 was about the same time.

Well if the new Facebook is draining the battery, I should be able to get 48hrs or more on the new Sapphire rom. lol

my battery life was horrible at first but then after a day or two it really improved! I removed both of my task killers and my phone was at 70% after heavy heavy browser, music, texting and calling so idk why your is bad give it time though

I have noticed quite abit of battery improvement with 2.2.
I take my phone off the charger around 5am and it does not go back on the charge till around 10pm.

I run WiFi and BT all day and when I put it oh charge ive got about 40% left of my battery..
Before with 2.1 I was putting it on charge with about 15 to 20% battery left..

No battery issues here since the update, plus I do power down my phone at night. I'm not a super heave phone user, but I do like to tinker around with it when I'm not busy. Now, when I'm at home, my voice service is partially weak. I do notice it uses a bit more battery while at home guessing it's digging for towers. A charge normally lasts me 3 days.

After updating yesterday my battery seemed to die very quickly. I plugged it in and after charging all night, it was only back up to 60% and the back was very hot. I turned the data connection off completely and kept it charging for less than an hour and it had jumped to 80% and was cool again. After playing with it more I noticed the data icon showed it was almost constantly transmitting and receiving something. I have since narrowed it down to Exchange push email. If I turn push off on my account it seems to go back to normal. I have factory reset and this does not take care of the problem. There is a page about this on code.google.com where they seem to have resolved it. I checked my email log and it shows the exact same thing as the example on the page where the phone is pinging the server every second or multiple times a second.

code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9718

Hopefully we will see this update included in the FRG22 build.

Might want to check if you have Exchange mailboxes and see if this is your problem as well.

I manually applied this build recently, and I had the exact same problem. So did a co-worker of mine. I think the overheating and battery life issues can be narrowed down to Exchange.

My battery would last about 4 hours, and the phone was warm to the touch. It was draining battery so quickly that recharging took longer than normal.

Setting push to "never" on my Exchange email account instantly solved my problem, and my co-worker's problem as well.

I also have the newest Facebook installed and have not noticed any extra battery drain from it.

I haveHaverhill great battery life and horrible.
I tracked down the processor being legged at 100% at 600 mhz. It was in the core processes. Uninstalling pure messinging seemed to correcgt it and some restarts. I uninstalleuninstalles my adobe that run in the back ground. This let's the processor scale back and isn't Macedonia any longer.
something Isn't playing right that I installed
anyone else find the culprit?

Maybe it's just me but when I turn off my Droid at night and then plug it in to charge it turns itself back on. Is it possible to charge it while it's turned off?

As per VZ they are expecting to have everyone on Froyo by the 18th of this month. I persoanlly believe that between the issues with 01. I downloaded the supposedly official 2.2 build and it has caused alot of interesting issues. Had to reset the phone then all was happy.

The 18th is next week so we will see if they stick to their word.

I have exchange running on my phone and have ZERO battery problems, I also have 3 gmail account configured and also a yahoo email on it too.

I could not be happier with 2.2..

After reading through all of the entries here I finally decided to bite the bullet and reset my phone too. I haven't been though a full day yet but so far my phone is still showing 100% and before it would have been down to 80% (90% with 2.1).

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will have resolved the issue.

No change in Batt life here.

Same here. That's not to say I never had battery issues.
My Droid was new in June - and that first unit couldn't hold a charge.
If I charged it to 100% and powered it off at night, I'd wake up to 70%.
There was a serious leak there somewhere, or maybe just a defective battery.

I returned it to the Verizon store 3 days after purchase and they popped in a new battery. It hasn't dropped below 70% since. Now I leave it on for days at a time (charge at night of course) and I use it constantly. After the 2.2 OTA came through, I haven't been able to put it down yet the battery life hasn't dropped one bit.

Another thing I did change with the new battery - I uninstalled Advance Task Killer - my battery life has been fine after that.

I think a major issue with battery life on 2.2 is alot of people are still running ATK. These are known to cause problems with Froyo. I think the big thing is when I reset my phone I did not redownload the ATK which probably helped also. If you have an ATK remove it and see if this also helps your battery life.
