2.2 (Froyo) is rooted! Talk about it here

As I stated in the other thread...this method uses Unrevoked Forever...please, please, please read up on Unrevoked Forever before attempting this. Unrevoked Forever opens up your phone FOREVER. As of now there is no way to return it back to stock...thus no way to mask the fact you rooted it. The unrevoked team has made no promises on making a way to reverse it.

I Personally still say its Reckless and Irresponsible or the UnrEVOked team to have Released that to the public...

hey guys -- if we are just flashing an older image so that we are allowed to change the hboot then why do we have to use the unrevoked zip to do it? can we just replace the unrevoked step with another step used previously to change the hboot? if the answer is no then can you elaborate for us please.

over at XDA someone claimed that there is a tool to reverse the unvrevoked method, but did not provide a source. anyone else know about it?

Dude you have a point whats the use of the Unrevoked method you should be able to just flash an Eng-Hboot Instead no?

someone at XDA is trying the OTA simple root method in place of unrevoked right now. fingers crossed.

personally -- if i am able to flash an older image then i would go with the oldest image. it was the easiest to root. IMHO

Indeed it is...

After all the krap I went thru trying to get Root I will never attempt an OTA and lose... People that did that just Ughh I have no words for that...

Hopefully this SimpleRoot Method will work... I Can Approve of that method... Even if it is the lazy way... :p

alright, someone is reporting that they have successfully switched out unrevoked with the simple OTA method. i will report back with more.

alright, here is a link to the simple root he used.

http://evo4g.me/downloads/OTASimpleRoot.zip

i don't know exactly what he changed yet so i am still F5ing the thread over at XDA. he is gonna have the OP add his method into the orginal instructions up there now.

and you still have to do all the other crazy things, but keep in mind that you can drag all those files to your phone's sdcard without using adb commands if that helps.

Might be time for someone to write a really thorough how-to ::looks around:: if it were me writing it i would probably provide really good explanation of the steps so anyone following along could follow AND understand what exactly they are doing.

I only wish someone would have made an amazing how-to that could be used as a template for the person creating this one to follow.

Oh well ;)

perhaps bringing life back to a dead thread? or copying the bits and pieces they could use over again for the new one? ehhhhhhh?

Love your hints....

Simpleroot will cause you to lose 1.4 PRI wont it? Or am I just confused?

Who Cares from what I've seen The PRI doesn't Increase or Decrease anyones Speeds...

Mostly curious. A lot of people were having a big fit over PRI and it seemed like something worth confirming.

well, i was already rooted prior to froyo and 1.47 and my PRI is 1.34 and i have no complaints. for what that's worth.
