2.2 Froyo Update - Report & Find Solutions to Issues Here (post #1 & 2 updated 8/8)

Not sure if this has been experienced or reported but when I tried to use the app share via sms it has to be broken up into 2 messages which breaks the link. The generic messagebefore the link is just too long.

SD Card Mounts on Charging

Just upgraded and found that when I plug in the charger, either car charger or usb on computer, the SD card attempts to mount, regardless of the settings. I selected "Charge Only" under Settings > Connect to PC > Default Connection Type, but that makes no difference. I am able to unmount the card manually through settings > SD and Phone Storage > Unmount SD Card --- then > Mount SD Card. That's a tricky work around because it makes a difference whether you do it before plugging in the usb cable or after.
Any solutions / fixes?

Sense keeps rebooting, or crashing? Updated last night and everything seemed fine. Everything has been fine all day except Sense has been rebooting all day. About 8 or 10 times. So far its happened just after I hang up at the end of a phone call, a couple of times after I exit out of application manager, and a couple of times after I exit the market.

Man, I have to wonder if people even make an effort to read what's been posted before posting here. The battery question has been discussed in about 50 different threads today, but it doesn't seem anyone has read them, so they post the same complaint, and someone else has to post the same response, over and over.

Search and read people, please!

ive searched and searched and i cant find anyone else with this problem. i have .3 and it seems like android behind sense is sticking in landscape. so if i leave an app in landscape and go back to home. then open any app itll stick in landscape for 3-5 seconds before switching back to portrait. curious if anyone else is seeing this problem? my dad has .6 and his is instant to portrait

I am using the .3 version, but i cannot get incoming picture messages while wi-fi is enabled, also the native youtube app is garbage now, i have to use the mobile site on the browser.

Any ideas?

I havent seen anyone else having this issue but my signal strength (phone, not wifi) is acting strange. For the past year I have been in this house this signal strength has been horrible so much so that Sprint sent me an Airave. Now with the update, my signal strength shows 5-6 bars with Wifi and 4G off. I guess its possible we got a new tower but it seems unlikely that it went online at the same time Froyo came out. The signal strength does not feel like its operating at full strength, i.e. websites are slow to load, etc. It still drops to zero bars for a few minutes now and again but 90% of the time it is reporting 5-6 bars. With wifi off it cant be the Airave unit. Does anyone know ho to check actual signal strength or have any ideas?

My only other outstanding issue is poor battery life. Thanks to everyone for helping fix some of the other issues I had listed in Post 1.

Has anyone been able to move apps to SD card? When I go to try and move my apps to the card its illuminated for me to be able move them. How does this work?

I'm screwed. I did the update at noon today. All the thing does is keep cycling through the Sprint loader... comes up no signal and no controls. Been cycling for 4 hours now. I called tech. They said let it cycle.

Calling again

I believe I'm the second person in this thread that lost with the update. The Sprint store can't fix the phone. I have to wait for a new one. I did all the hard reset stuff. No good. I don't know what they tried but they had it in the service room for 45 mins. Came back and said something I loaded must have hosed it. I said yea... I loaded your update.

Tried to resurrect the Palm Pre... it won't fire up. Battery gets hot but it won't turn on. They were out of batteries.

So no phone at all. Sprint gave me a $25 credit. I may call and cry more.

Mike

Probably not a big deal, but the I heart radio app no longer works over 3g/4g.

It's a huge deal for me. I've been banging my head against the wall all day. Quit start quit start...come on!!!!Work!!. Oh well.
I think I'll email the dev. see what happens. But seeing as I'm only 4-6% of the market...I'm not holding my breath.

Do you still have the phone, or did they keep it? If you still have it, are you able to get it into bootloader mode?

That is correct.

Starting fresh is a lot easier than people might think.

Post hard reset:

1) Configure your accounts (5 minutes)
2) Delete & add any widgets you do/don't want (5 minutes)
3) Go through the settings menu and configure things the way you like them (5-10 minutes)
4) Test for 30-60 minutes before you start adding 3rd party apps.
5) Go to the Market and open up your downloads page. Before you install an app, check the latest comments being left for the app. Verify that there isn't a bunch of people saying things like "FC with Froyo!!!". Don't install apps that control the operating system (like task managers) or modify interact with hardware in any way (LED managers) and things like that. Be cautious. Don't just install 30 apps and see what happens. Unfortunately not all apps are compatible with Froyo yet.

The time you save from doing the above: Priceless.

A hard reset is easier than that. The only thing I ever lose when bouncing around between ROMs is call log and texts. Settings are restored from Google's servers. Bookmarks are as well. All apps install automatically since they are tied to your Google account. The only thing I lose are calls and texts, and I use sms backup and call track to handle those.
