This may be a dumb question but putting 2.2 on the Eris will it have the flash player ability of say Droid 2?

I would very much like to root my phone with 2.2, but first can someone answer a few questions....

1) What are the best overclock speeds anyone here has reached, and does this ROM/DEV that everyone here is currently using automatically set the clock speed higher than default/voltage?

2) Has anyone had any other serious issues when loading this ROM/DEV such a bricked phone?

3) Will apps from the market install properly and update as well with this current ROM/DEV?

thank you for your response guys!!

Also....can someone post some screen shots of what this 2.2 looks like on the eris (white or black notification bar, home screen/default launcher, keyboard, etc....)!!!! I am very interested & would like to contribute in depth to the community. Please post screen shots!

I actually still haven't flashed 31 - I am still on 30 - and I hardly ever receive MMS, but they are being received fine. There is a FAQ for KF that talks about MMS issues. See KaosFroyo FAQ - KaosFroyo - GitHub

Not yet, and perhaps never. Up until this point, nobody has released a flash player for stock android that works on the ARMv6 compatible processor of the Eris. There are some 2.1 sense-based ROMs that have the 10.1 flash player installed - I know that TaintedTenzo, xtrSENSE, and xtrROM all have people who have 10.1 working. Apparently you have to wait a while after the page loads for flash controls to load, and, before they do, they give a "missing flash player" link - don't click it and wait, apparently.

I'm quite happy without Flash myself.

1. By default it is set to overclock at 710 max/245 min. Plenty of people get faster than 710, but for many Erises, 710 is a pretty stable maximum; I am pretty sure that almost everybody can get 768, but you really need to try with your phone. Run higher than that and you pay with reduced battery life with not much gain (or an unstable phone that freezes or restarts.) I have run with 710, and it is pretty fast, but now I am running at stock 528 max myself, and it is still fast enough for me most of the time. The only time it lags is when I am installing or updating from the market, but it lags at 710 for that, too. I'd strongly encourage you not to exceed 710, but it's your phone.

2. Overclock too fast and you brick it I suppose, but I haven't seen anybody report that the ROM bricked the phone.

3. Yes. Froyo includes a feature to update all apps at once that need updating, plus some apps can be selected to update automatically.

I'm not running the stock ADW launcher myself. It is a white notification bar, and, as I said, ADW is the launcher. The default keyboard is the Android vanilla keyboard, but it also comes with the HTC keyboard that is like the stock Eris (it includes some more features, actually; read up on HTC_IME), and, with V31, the DroidX multi-touch keyboard as well. The lock screen is the Nexus lock screen - slide a green button from left to right to unlock, slide an orange control from right to left to switch between sound on and sound off. The messenger app is the vanilla Android messenger, the browser is the vanilla Android browser. The integrated contact and dialer app is quite different from HTC's app - you cannot dial by spelling the person's name on the dialer pad, for example, though there is no lag with either of these apps, as you may remember with the stock HTC apps on the Eris.

is the initial start up take awhile? just put the kaosfroyo on my girlfriends eris

The browser on my wife's eris looses connection and says page failed to load..she said it did it all day a few times when she went to access facebook.com mobile site. Other than that her battery life is 100% better, and the phone absolutely flys. I'm really happy and so is she. I would just like to know about the browser issue? anyone else having this problem?

I have not had this problem. Perhaps facebook was having an issue today?

Also, does she have location enabled in settings? I've not seen an issue with this in kf from others, but I have with other web sites.

Her phone seems fine now except for the camera. It wont take the picture, freezes up and then just exits.

If you are using kaos V31, that is a bug in the camera, fixable by turning off auto-focus. Change the settings to tap to focus, I believe, fixes that.

Or, better, install the just-released V32 that fixes the camera focus bug.

Switched over to Tazz ROM, seems faster on my phone. Got nothing angiaist Kaos, just wanted to try it out.

Only issue I seem to be having is I can't get the exchange activesync to work correctly. Touchdown works fine.

Hey I flashed kayosfroyo it works great but the video player after an hour and 20 mins I think it goes back to 0 mins but it still plays where the video left off at but it starts playing the audio from the begging. Can u help me with this? My email is bobvk114@gmail.com .... thanx

I have no idea what you guys are talking about so I know I won't ever root my phone. But is there a way to move my apps to the SD card? I keep getting error messages about low on internal memory storage. I have deleted a bunch of apps and moved all pictures to my laptop. Verizon told me to do a reset which was unacceptable to me and I don't think I should have to do this. They said it was probably a program I installed that is screwing everything up but I know it's not. I wish I had known all this when I bought the Eris but I had never had a smart phone so I didn't know enough to ask. Also I can only use Verizon cuz I am out in the country.
Any help is appreciated.
Joanne

The only way to move apps to the sd card is to Root-meaning to take super user control of the file system, if you click the root link at the very top of the page you will find all the info you need to understand and even learn how to. After root you need to upgrade to 2.2 .
Your pics are stored on your sd card so you can keep em there if a like, the apps are stored in the Random Onboard Memory - ROM which unfortunately is small. Id also remove the junk apps like wallpaper and ringtones once you have the ones you like. Remember you can always reload them when you need them again.

I was wondering if kaos froyo will work with the lg ally.

Kaos Froyo is for the Eris only. I am sure that the Ally forum here has information about rooting options for it. It looks like you choose an option from ROM Manager rather than using Amon's Recovery. I have no big issue with Amon's, but ROM Manager looks a lot more user-friendly to me.
