im running v31 and picture messages dont download does anyone else have this problem?
I actually still haven't flashed 31 - I am still on 30 - and I hardly ever receive MMS, but they are being received fine. There is a FAQ for KF that talks about MMS issues. See
KaosFroyo FAQ - KaosFroyo - GitHub
This may be a dumb question but putting 2.2 on the Eris will it have the flash player ability of say Droid 2?
Not yet, and perhaps never. Up until this point, nobody has released a flash player for stock android that works on the ARMv6 compatible processor of the Eris. There are some 2.1 sense-based ROMs that have the 10.1 flash player installed - I know that TaintedTenzo, xtrSENSE, and xtrROM all have people who have 10.1 working. Apparently you have to wait a while after the page loads for flash controls to load, and, before they do, they give a "missing flash player" link - don't click it and wait, apparently.
I'm quite happy without Flash myself.
I would very much like to root my phone with 2.2, but first can someone answer a few questions....
1) What are the best overclock speeds anyone here has reached, and does this ROM/DEV that everyone here is currently using automatically set the clock speed higher than default/voltage?
2) Has anyone had any other serious issues when loading this ROM/DEV such a bricked phone?
3) Will apps from the market install properly and update as well with this current ROM/DEV?
thank you for your response guys!!
1. By default it is set to overclock at 710 max/245 min. Plenty of people get faster than 710, but for many Erises, 710 is a pretty stable maximum; I am pretty sure that almost everybody can get 768, but you really need to try with your phone. Run higher than that and you pay with reduced battery life with not much gain (or an unstable phone that freezes or restarts.) I have run with 710, and it is pretty fast, but now I am running at stock 528 max myself, and it is still fast enough for me most of the time. The only time it lags is when I am installing or updating from the market, but it lags at 710 for that, too. I'd strongly encourage you not to exceed 710, but it's your phone.
2. Overclock too fast and you brick it I suppose, but I haven't seen anybody report that the ROM bricked the phone.
3. Yes. Froyo includes a feature to update all apps at once that need updating, plus some apps can be selected to update automatically.
Also....can someone post some screen shots of what this 2.2 looks like on the eris (white or black notification bar, home screen/default launcher, keyboard, etc....)!!!! I am very interested & would like to contribute in depth to the community. Please post screen shots!
I'm not running the stock ADW launcher myself. It is a white notification bar, and, as I said, ADW is the launcher. The default keyboard is the Android vanilla keyboard, but it also comes with the HTC keyboard that is like the stock Eris (it includes some more features, actually; read up on HTC_IME), and, with V31, the DroidX multi-touch keyboard as well. The lock screen is the Nexus lock screen - slide a green button from left to right to unlock, slide an orange control from right to left to switch between sound on and sound off. The messenger app is the vanilla Android messenger, the browser is the vanilla Android browser. The integrated contact and dialer app is quite different from HTC's app - you cannot dial by spelling the person's name on the dialer pad, for example, though there is no lag with either of these apps, as you may remember with the stock HTC apps on the Eris.
