2.2 Update?

WHEN WILL WE SEE THE 2.2 UPDATE FOR OUR PHONES. Wishing I would have bought something else as no happy with this situation.

honestly, at this point, im not sure it actually will ever be updated. I hope im wrong but there really just doesnt seem that samsung has any interest in doing it.

We should see an update very close after the fascinate.
Probably within the next month. I for one will be def buying another Samsung

I hope you are right about the Continuum update, but what makes you think we are getting the upgrade?

I would certainly hope Verizon/Samsung would be smart enough to know they should not orphan one of their devices and all of the owners of those devices by NOT updating it along with all the other devices. If the Continuum does not get the update, but all the other Samsung devices do, I would have to dump the phone, and I would go to Verizon and insist on getting a phone with the latest OS for minimal or no cost. Can't hurt to try! But I still think we'll get it in the next month or so.

The issue comes down to demand. Very few customers bought this device and those who have are even less likely to care very much about OS updates, as those who buy power devices at the cutting edge. Best idea at this point is to tweet or email Verizon and Samsung indicating how much of a disappointment this device has been.

I hope you are right about the Continuum update, but what makes you think we are getting the upgrade?

Because every other phone around the world has recieved the update for one, another reason is they wouldnt leave Fascinate by the wayside considering they have already done the work. If they have the fascinate version done, the continuum is a walk in the park since both share alot of the same code they are very similar. They already have a bad rap for updates so leaving even one of the newer phones without at least a froyo update would be foolish.

It may be a disappointment to you and some others from a Development/Customization standpoint or whatever, but I would not want to speak for those who have the device and are perfectly happy with it. The Continuum gets pretty good reviews everywhere you look, and it's barely different from the Fascinate, other than the size.

Love the Continuum

I for one love the Samsung Continuum. It's a great little phone, that AMOLED screen is awesome! I am one of those that is waiting for the Froyo 2.2 but I am not stressing over it though. I am mainly waiting for Netflix and Hulu. I am aware that Hulu is only going to be on the 2.2 or higher and Netflix will most likely be the same.

jrhale, you hit the nail on the head. I love my Continuum but am also wishing to use Hulu, Netflix and Flash. Come on, Samsung/Verison or whoever, get me the update NOW.

Totally agree! Most of the market is on 2.2 while we have a phone released in Nov of last year thats running 2.1.

To make matters worse, the RSS feeds have now stopped again. This is the second time in two months. And I don't think it's something that an update to 2.2 will fix, am I wrong?

It's not an official release. I will attest though that it worked for me. look it up on dot com, xda-developers

Actually, we have a later leak than that. I have it linked in the guide I made up. Since you already have most of it done, all you'd need to do is flash the ec07.tar in odin, after putting the EC07 deodexed on your sd card. Then flash that in cwm.

How is the Continuum on the 2.2 (leak)? Is the ticker still an issue for folks? I exchanged mine for the Fascinate way back in April (a lifetime in Android universe), the ticker kept dying on all 3 of the Continuums me and my wife tried...but I am still curious to see what develops with the Continuum.

Ticker is fully functional, again. Rss, facebook, and weather. Twitdroid still doesn't work. But that is an issue with the app, not the api. And devs have already ported native twitter to fix it.

Cool. Glad to see this device has been given a little love, and an extended life with this custom ROM. Pretty sad that Samsung/Verizon have orphaned this phone like they have, considering it was released as part of the Galaxy S Series. I really liked the idea of the ticker, and I thought maybe a developer out there might have had a go at it, but I guess it's not high on the list since not too many folks have this device.
