2.3.3 RUINED my phone, reboots during .mp3 playback

Since the gingerbread 2.3.3 update, my phone reboots constantly. All but one time it has happened during .mp3 playback, with the 1 other incident occuring during web browsing. I listen to .mp3's a lot, so this is happening many times a day. It is very frustrating. I even tried a 3rd party mp3 player (mixzing) and it happened using that as well. Any ideas on a possible fix? I have researched it, and while people have had various rebooting problems, I haven't seen anybody post about this specific problem since the update. Thanks.

I always start fresh on a new OS. Factory resets friend, and I bet you will be fine.

You will loose all of that. I use call backup and restore, and sms backup and restore personally. Contacts sync with google and apps sync as well.

My phone reboots as well. Its a big issue. I listen to pandora a lot and it reboots within about 3 min of playback.

You can certainly try it, but I doubt it will help. I have installed GB about 4 different times and wiped data and cache every time.

The .340 SBF file is still floating around everywhere. That should do it.

My phone shuts off in the middle of listening to music. On stock player and Winamp. Very frustrating, but it's the only time it does it. Since the GB my random reboots have stopped.

I have not tested this theory as I just got done doing this, but I backed up the SD card and re-formatted it. I will be testing the music player(s) out and see what happens.

Seem a little easier than a factory wipe if it indeed does work.

Hopefully let you all know tomorrow.

I had this problem as well, but I did for myself and helped my brother by doing 2 things that may help you, too! (with double twist) (1) factory reseting the phone (keep Double Twist, Pandora Radio, Slacker Radio, or whatever you use intsalled untill this part is complete) (2) Uninstalling and reinstalling the app (Double twist worked after is did this) OR (I did this for me when the last way didn't work) (Step 1): flash back to froyo, (Step 2): reinstall all apps from backup, (Step 3): update again, (Step 4): do a factory reset, (Step 5): reinstall all apps through the menu that pops up after the factory reset, (Step 6): uninstall the app in question (double twist for me), and (Step 7): reinstall the app! (finally :-) ) hopefully this will work for you as it did for me! (contact me for questions/help)

So I got a good 45 minutes without my phone shutting down, so it would seem that reformatting the SD card might help.

My SD card went crazy after the upgrade as well. A format of the SD card fixed all of my problems. None of which were mp3 play back. My Droid was just very very laggy.

I have successfully rolled back to 2.2, but i accidentally started the download of 2.3, and couldn't stop it. When it asked if I want to install now or postpone an hour, I postponed, but I don't want to have to do that every hour. Is there any way to delete the update file from the phone?

A little late to the party, but don't do a factory reset yet. Clear the phones cache first using the recovery area. This is just as good as a factory reset in most cases and you don't lose any data.
