2.3.6 Manual update - now battery life eeek!

Hey everyone, I've got a Droid RAZR 16g I manually updated the phone to 2.3.6 from external SSD method, today the phone feels warm to the touch and its lunch time now so its been on battery for 3 hours 9 min, Im at 15% battery life left.

Display - 35%
Phone idle - 25%
Wi-Fi - 21%
Cell standby - 20%

nothing else running, sent a few texts and its been sitting on my desk.


The phone is like 2 weeks old. Anyone else seeing this battery performance since updating to 2.3.6? Before this I was getting almost 18 hours of battery life

Well, It finally died at 3.5 hours of use on the battery.

I powered it off and back on before it died completely and a new icon under battery use showed up "media" with like 74% battery usage that wasnt there before.

Charging it back up now that im back at my desk will see if I can find out what that media thing was.

well after shutting it down/back on and charging it to full, the battery is lasting like usual.

I have to wonder, the phone felt quite warm this morning when it was draining like mad.

ill keep yal updated, but maybe it was a random fluke.

Follow up,

Been on battery for 1 day, 18 hours.

still at 30%.

Wifi -35%
Android OS- 29%
Phone idle - 14%
cell Standby - 11%
Display -8%
Voice calls -4%


only thing the guys at work can think of are maybe the sporadic 4g we are receiving since this last week maybe it was kicking something and just draining the battery hopping in and out of 4g, or that some process that wasnt showing up just crunched the thing till the battery died and my power off /on stopped it after the recharge.

Hey so my girl just got this phone and the battery was actually pretty good. But than the update came and she experienced the same thing too! I did a factory reset and hopefully the problem is fixed
