2 or more crashes a day? Should I return the TB?

I'm experiencing 2 or more crashes/reboots a day. I thought it might be an app, WatchDroid, but I disabled it and still crashing.

I've disabled a lockscreen replacement, Widget Locker. I'll see if it still crashes through tomorrow.

Yesterday it crashed and froze in the HTC boot screen. I had to pull the battery?

Scanning the forums I haven't seen anything similar.

All my current Apps worked fine on my OG Droid. Including WatchDroid and Widget Locker.

Should I exchange the TB?

If you can't get it to stop, yes, exchange it. However, since you're at the end of your rope, you might as well do a factory reset and see where you are...

If a factory reset doesn't fix the issue, then take it back. VZW will do a factory reset to troubleshoot anyway.

Are they gunna want me to demonstrate the problem, or just testify that it continued after fact-reset?

It would be pretty hard to demonstrate a random reboot. All you can do is talk to them. There usually pretty reasonable on replacements if needed.

Last night I was playing Angry Birds for awhile when the phone suddenly just turned off no reboot. The odd thing was when this happened the amber charge light came on for about 20 seconds after it shut down but the phone was NOT plugged in. The phone turned on fine after that. This was the only time this has happened.

I've had a few random crashes and force closes of known stable apps. I've done one factory rest already. I had one reboot happen while using the camera, the app crashed out and then trying to open it again I'd get a frozen image then it finally rebooted after a few times.

also got one while playing chess.com. I think that one may have been a loss of 4g network while I was using it.

I may do one more factory reset and if I have another reboot I'll take it in.

Best bet to find the issue is to do a factory reset, and run the phone totally stock w/ no extra or market apps for a day or two. This will help determine if you have a TBolt with some kind of hardware issue, etc.

Good luck.

OP, please report back after you try a factory reset. That seems to be the consensus as to what to try before you take it back for a replacement.

Thanks.

Today I had my phone turned on beside me while I slept. I woke up to check some things and the phone was unresponsive. It turns out the phone had turned itself off. Battery was 62%, so the battery did not go dead.

I disabled both suspicious apps yesterday and still had a restart last night. So I factory reset.
All my Market apps reloaded on their own, after signing into Gmail. I didn't even open the Market.

I didn't activate or launch any of the apps so hopefully that's clean enough for testing today. I'll see if I have any restarts through the day.

This exact same thing happened to me last night. It was the first and only time it's happened (knock on wood). Phone powered off... then a few seconds of amber LED light... then I had to hold the power button down to turn it back on. Very odd.

Wow! I was typing up a post about a restart I had this morning and it did it again. Two within two hours of my morning.
Headed to Verizon after work!

You need to disable the backup app options first before you do a factory reset to prevent your apps from auto re-downloading after the wipe.

The only time my ThunderBolt has locked up and then rebooted on me, I was streaming a music video via YouTube app, and while the video was still playing I had tried to switch to a Web browser. Locked up, then crashed a minute later.
Haven't had any other OS shutdowns.

Though IMDB, MoviePhone, AirAttack HD, and TuneWiki apps have had forced shutdowns.
