2015 Mazda CX5 quit audio playback on text messages downloaded

[Android Central Question]

My audio playback was working for downloaded messages in my 2015 Mazda CX5 then they just quit working. I still get the prompt for incoming message to "download now" or "download later". The messages do download, but when I touch the speaker icon to hear the message, an "X" appears, and there is no audio. I am using a Samsung S9 phone.
