I wanted to give my early impressions because there has been a lot of FUD put out there, including Phil's awesome "trampoline" gif (which wasn't FUD, just seems to be an extreme case). Here is the lowdown:

1. Case build quality: Pretty awesome. I have none of the "bouncy back cover" shown in Phil's video, mine is rock solid. The soft-touch feels good in the hand and every bit as "luxe" as the iPad Air, unless you prefer the metal finish (which I don't). My only niggle is that the buttons are too flat. However, with the double-tap-to-start feature, this is less of an issue.

2. Screen: VERY good. I was worried about a lower PPI than on the 7, but I needn't have been, it is what you want it to be, if not more.

3. Lollipop: amazing, 'nuff said.

4. Performance: Super fast and smooth. The ONLY lag I ever had was when it was working on loading all of my apps at the beginning and I wanted to go try everything out. This is the first engine I have had that has been able to scroll the Play Store without jank.

5. Heat? Yes, some very minor heat in one corner when used for a long time. Honestly, I might not have noticed if I hadn't been clued to feel for it.

6. Light bleed? Again, hadn't noticed it even when watching a movie in a dark room until I read about some experiencing this. Now I can see it a bit in one corner. Not very much, sort of a shrug for me.

7. Battery: seems pretty decent, but 24 hours is not enough to know.

Overall, this is the best Android tablet I have used and, considering the overall experience, better than our iPad Air in my opinion. YMMV.

I have had mine for 24 hours now and everything is working like promised. The speed and response is really awesome with no lag time what so ever. This is a keeper.
