3-dot menu button driving me crazy!!

I found the fix! Step 1. Return your HTC One. Step 2. Get a Galaxy S3. You now have a menu button, works every time!

If HTC included a fourth three dot menu button at the bottom of the device, that would be pretty bad. Think about how foolish the phone would look while using updated apps implementing the proper menu setup. Not only would there be a 'proper' menu key, but a capacitive menu key at the same time.

HTC should have done a better job in figuring out how to handle the menu button before releasing Sense 4.0 with ICS.

They did - ICS developers told the app developers that this was happening weeks (maybe months) before the One X was released. Some devs have updated their apps, some have been lazy.

HTC fixed it in their current release (Asia).

The custom roms have a fix hacked in too for those that are rooted. This is an app problem, right? Everyone is"fixing it" because the apps aren't?

It annoys the hell outta me, nothing like wasted space, plus ads in some apps. You can do like I do... Email and leave reviews telling them to fix it according to Google's design guidelines, and that they've had plenty of time to fix it. Several have responded, others like Amazon, eBay, Redbox, etc we just have to wait and see if they eventually fix it. Google should force them to comply to the menu button placement when submitting an app. It really gets to me when I get an update notification, but it hasn't been fixed.

latest AT&T OTA update now has an acceptable to me solution, it allows one to configure recent apps button (gives 3 choices - see details in the other thread that talks about this update). Now, this phone's most hated behavior (for me) is solved!!

Osho

Yup, it fixed the annoying black bar issue! Thank you HTC! Now my rant emails to devs can finally cease.
