Do we know what purpose they serve?

Yeah not sure and Google didn't mention them in the announcement.. Or at least I don't think they did..
 
According to the spec sheet, my guess is one is phased detection autofocus (PDAF), one is laser detection autofocus (LDAF), and one is a microphone.
 
Laser focusing requires both a transmitter and a receiver. Often, these are both hidden under a single oblong window; perhaps the Pixel has simply separated them behind two circular windows.
