3g to wifi battery drain - is there an app to fix this?

I was wondering if there is an app that will automatically switch between 3g and wifi without draining the battery searching for wifi while on 3g. Free apps are my preference but I'm open to paying for it. It would be well worth it.
I'm using a Samsung Proclaim (Straight Talk).

I found a solution. I downloaded wifi powersaver. it turns off wifi when 3g kicks in because of no known wifi connections available. I have to manually reconnect to wif but that's okay. At least my phone battery is not draining so fast while is needlessly searches for wifi that is not available..

I looked into that app and some others. The one you recommend is not good for me because I do a lot of wifi outside my home. So I downloaded one that includeds other hotspots. It's called smart wifi toggler. It automatically turns off and on wifi and 3g.
I just downloaded it so I'll let you know if it's good. The reveiws seem good.and the description is exactly what i was looking for!
