3g/Wifi Xoom vs. wifi Xoom what are you picking and why

Cost wise I'd like to go with the wifi only but I'm very impatient. I bought a 16gb wifi only ipad at release and then returned it after 2 weeks to wait for a good android tablet. This was almost a year ago, I knew they would put out a good android tab eventually I just didn't think it would take this long lol. Anyway, I remember thinking to myself when I had the ipad that it woulda been nice to have gotten the 3g model so I'd at least have the option to use it if needed. Granted my current Droid X is rooted (as will be my Thunderbolt soon as it comes out) and my past 2 phones were rooted also but still. Would be nice to have the option I guess.

Long story short, if the wifi only model released the same day I'd probably by that, but I'm not waiting any longer so I'll get the 3g if that's the only one released on the 24th.

Wifi only if it comes to the states. If we only get the 3g/4g here I will not get a xoom because its bull**** the Motorola thinks it can suck extra money from the Americans by not releasing the wifi version here.

If that happens I seriously doubt it would be at Motorola's instigation. They do not really get much benefit from it. If WiFi is delayed in the US I suspect it is because Verizon has paid for the exclusivity. Makes more sense for Verizon than Motorola.

But this is all speculation. :-D

I'm willing to bet they launch around the same time frame. It would be suicide for Motorola to do so otherwise. Verizon probably does have exclusivity, on the cell enabled carrier branded version.

To launch the device any later then April is stupid on Motorola's part. I think a Q3 launch for WiFi is pretty much out of the question thanks to Nvidia saying that the quad core mobile processors will be in tablets by then, thus making the Xoom old tech at that point.

I think that with the pricing set on both versions, they will launch in very close to each other if not exactly on the same day. I do find it very odd that we don't have official release dates yet, but the pricing was announced. To me, that says that neither Motorola nor Verizon have a release date for the Xoom yet.

I'll more than likely be getting the WiFi only Xoom once it's out. I don't have a real need for mobile data on it, as nearly every place I can think of that I'd be using it is going to have WiFi available to me anyway.

I'm not a techie but have enjoyed everyone's discussion on this board. I have a question that may help me decide between getting the 3G or waiting until 4G: what is involved in the free upgrade to 4G? Will we have to send in the tablet and have them switch out the hardware? Or is is something that can be handled easily by just taking it to Verizon? (I will be getting a data plan, just not sure whether to jump in now or wait).

I can't help but wonder if somewhere in that $200 premium sits the cost for the 4g hardware upgrade

I plan on getting the 3g/4g version. I need to know that anywhere I go I will be able to be connected to the internet. For my job, I go to many schools where wifi is not available but I need access to the internet. I don't need a huge data package, so max of $35 a month is alright. I can't wait until this thing comes out!

3g/4g for me. I have waited so long for this tablet. I will feel better knowing I can activate the 3g for a month. I never know where I might be. If Costco sells at $100 off the $799 I will come out ahead. I bought another tablet late last year and sold it for $200 more that what I paid. So I think I am about even-steven on this deal.

Wifi for me. I can find a hotspot most places and can always tether if I "really" needed access. I just don't think $200 is worth it to me for the just in case factor, not when I have other options.

Its hate how so many companies are so quite with there products. When will we see the wifi only version of the xoom.

I may cave in and buy the 3g at launch. I really want one ASAP

I'm getting the contract & then cancel within in a month & just use my droid x as a mobile hotspot...no need to have to verizon data contracts when i already pay for one with my droid x

4g, I can't wait any longer for it! Oh and I may use the 4g on vacation or something, I would rather have it and not need it then not have it and need it.
