3MP photo with the EVO 4G

It's still using the same sensor, so there won't be a difference under exact conditions for each photo.

Well, probably. There is a technique called pixel binning that can give improved results when shooting at a lower resolution than the native resolution for a sensor. But I seriously doubt the Evo does that.

Megapixels has no direct relationship to quality. Period.

MP simply relates to how large you can make an image before it starts to lose quality sharpness when you view it.

There is some relationship between MP and resolution, but not as direct as you might think. In some cases higher MP can actually result in less resolution (or sharpness, if you will) because of something called diffraction.

Unfortunately, because many consumers equate more pixels with better quality, manufacturers are in a megapixel race, often to the detriment of the consumer.

save the photo nerd talk for dpreview.. I think this is going over the heads of many here lol..

j/k I agree with what you said. 8MP in the EVO is a joke... it is unfortunate that those who can appreciate true image quality, has to suffer the subpar imaging products due to marketing decisions based on the invalid sentiment of the majority

yea the only thing you are doing is saving size. for me i just post my photos on fb and my blog so 8 mp is just over kill. im always on 3 mp
and actually ive never really used flash. when i do its just disappointing

Im going to steal this picture from you and use it as my home screen, indeed she looks better in the light

Did you take that picture with the Evo?
Is the camara set at 3pm? and what are your setting?

Yeah, I doubt the camera has an 8mp capable lens! It's total marketing. I post all my pics at 640x480 usually, lol.
