Have you tried any troubleshooting steps to see if they get rid of the freezes? The first thing to try would be to go to Settings>Apps, select the app (Google Maps in this case), then Storage, then Clear Cache/Clear Storage. Then go back one step and Force Stop the app. Now open Google Maps again, give it a few seconds to resync to your account, and see if the problem comes back.Have you ever, just for kicks, tried using your Google maps not in the car. Don't giggle. I've had to check distance and time while in a conversation at home. My maps always freezes no matter where I use it or for how long. So I started using Waze . I have been having Google maps issues with freezing for a few years now. It's crazy I still have not figured out what's wrong with mine but in quite over all the Google apps issues I have. I wish the guy at att had not taken me out of the I phone. That will be my next phone... Grrr
Venting thank you
Another possibility is that some app you routinely install could be interfering with other apps, or making the system unstable. You can test the phone in Safe Mode (which disables all 3rd party apps, but should allow all preinstalled Google apps to function), and see if the problem persists. This can be tricky if the freezing happens only very rarely, but if it's at least once a day, it's usually not that big a deal to run the phone in Safe Mode for that period of time. https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2852139?hl=en
