4.0.3

Does anyone have an idea of what 4.0.3 will fix? Bluetooth, signal issues, battery life? I have been having issues with my bluetooth connecting to my FlexsmartX2. It use to work, but now it doesn't. :'(

Can't hurt to flash a rom on 4.0.3 and see how it helps. I'm on bugless beast. And have no Bluetooth issues. Going to flash the new radios tonight.

4.0.3 will fix child hunger, the homeless problem, and bring world peace.

wish there was a way to have a vibrate and silent volume option without having to go into the settings menu to switch the vibrate settings.

Battery life messages always crack me up. If I left my phone in airplane mode then I am sure the screen is irrelevant, along with almost every feature of a phone. I used a Droid X while waiting on the GNex. It's battery life was no better with normal use for me. In fact it was slightly worse. But I could put myself in a different scenario and it would get better. Apples to Oranges, there is no real comparison. You have to figure out what you need to do to make it better. For example the WIFI on the Droid X would never automatically connect to the Cisco WIFI I have at work (where I also get very weak cell signal with Verizon). This caused major battery drain when I didn't remember to turn on and off the WIFI on the phone as apps tried to sync on 1x when it could find it. Every scenario for everybody is different.

BTW my GNex is getting better battery than my co-workers IPhone 4S who sits right beside me at work. Like comparing Apples to Oranges, doesn't work.

I'm ok with the battery life. It could be a bit better with the stock battery, but compared to what the Thunderbolt was like out of the box, this is a vast improvement. Today I streamed audio over bluetooth in the car while using navigation. The Thunderbolt wouldnt last two hours for me doing that. This is still plugging along, down to about 30% now.

This is why I cautioned people in another thread that were raving about 'quick updates direct from Google' to wait. First we don't know how quick updates will be. Second, we don't know if all updates really will be 'direct from Google'. Third, it's hard to believe that at least some updates won't come directly from Verizon or at least with the intervention of Verizon...some updates will impact their network and Verizon won't let Google operate in a vacuum.

We'll just have to wait and see.

The only thing is this... If updates did not come right from google and only certain ones do then why did the verizon version get 4.0.2 before the gsm nexus when it had things to do with verizon's network??

The only updates that I could see being delayed because of Verizon are the ones that include radios. I am perfectly fine with that because of the impact that they could have on the network.

Aside from those updates however, Verizon has no reason to have any say in any of the updates. Software on a phone has no effect on their network. Also their is nothing on this phone that Verizon actually created so why would anything come straight from them? Verification and authorization, yes, but no creation.

Since Samsung has had some time to work on their other radios we can only hope that they'll get it right shortly so most of the updates won't need Verizon's involvement.

Because I suspect that Verizon was involved in that update. It might not have come direct from Verizon, but I seriously doubt that Verizon, being as controlling as they are, would allow Google to 'tinker' with the way the phone interacts with their network and not give their seal of approval.

Second, this is only one update and doesn't speak to future updates and where they will come from. The fact is with any given update, do we really know who touched it, approved it or turned thumbs down on it?

I'd largely agree with that. However keep in mind that the most important updates for this phone right now, are indeed for that radio. So for me it's no biggie if a camera update comes direct from Google, it's where and when do the really important updates come from and for most people it will still be from VZW.

Put another way, the important updates are the ones we want quickest and those will still be the 'old school' way, from Verizon. So quicker Google updates won't matter much for the important stuff IMO.

idk I would still think that samsung and google would handle the radio updates also. It isn't like verizon has the radios and will insert their own radios the only thing they *may* do would be test it but if google is doing that there isn't really any need for verizon to test it since they do a pretty ty testing job anyway.

I'd expect differences between the GSM and LTE models when it comes to updates.

There maybe updates that are only for the LTE model. So while it looks like we got an update first it could be that the GSM model doesn't need that update and will get updates that effect the os on both phones first...

Tough to say...at least you guys will be getting updates before non nexus models...
