4.1.83 Out?

Uh, Buddy in case you haven't noticed I agreed with you. Secondly this is how I know for a fact: [MOD] Enable HUSPA on ATT - Page 30 - xda-developers
I never said for anyone not to flash it, however it does not include other fixes. It's a flash for the radio only.

lol. It was a valid question. I was really asking you because I myself didnt know lol. But judging by what the person that replied to you said, he has a valid point. That file is the same one Moto is using. Fixes and all.

upodated here now getting better speeds both down and up but still nowhere near what we all would like but deffinitely better....

Just go the update here in Chapel Hill, NC via the Software Update app. Don't know if this means anyone can get it through this method or not. I first tried checking directly through the phone (About Phone-System Updates) and it said I was 'up to date' so maybe they are slowing adding IMEI segments to their whitelist, but using the Motorola software it is working.

Root appears to be broken by the update, but I had GingerBreak v1.1 installed prior to the update and simply re-ran it to gain root again.

First post,

Got the OTA update this morning. Located in Durham, NC.

Speedtest is giving me:
133ms ping
2.04Mbps down
1.22Mbps up

Never had upload this good (usually .2), but I've had 2.5Mbps down in the triangle before.

Gingerbreak?

Does the Gingerbreak.app HAVE to be on your SD card for this to work? I downloaded it to my internal memory, and installed it from there. I just updated to 4.1.83 using the prompted phone update (what is that method called in Android-speak?, and what is the method using RSL-Lite called?...I'm new to this whole thing).

I'm assuming I lost my root since I updated (duh), but I haven't touched the thing since.

If I don't want to lose everything on my SD card, I should back it up right now to my computer (before running Gingerbreak)?

I guess what I'm asking in summary is:

1) For Gingerbreak to work, does it have to be installed from the SD card? (i.e. should I go back, uninstall it from the internal memory, and reinstall it from the SD card?)

2) After I run Gingerbreak, assuming it works, all I need to do to "get back to before" is copy and paste stuff back to my SD card?

3) And for my own personal knowledge, what happens if I can't get the root to work? What things won't work on my phone? I've already looked at Applanet, and I see that it won't download anything. Will that functionality be restored once I root? What options do I have if Gingerbreak fails?

This whole rooting thing makes me nervous! I rooted 1.57 from stock (had to flash back to 1.26...the whole nine yards), but this is my first rodeo as far as doing an firmware update is concerned.

Any help/attempt to ease my concerns is much appreciated!

Cheers!

Alright,

I quit being such a chicken and just did it.

Everything went without a hitch, except some of the data from my apps were deleted. I had downloaded/created ringtones/notification tones, and those files/folders were deleted from the main internal drive.

Is this normal?

A couple of Applanet apps didn't work, but when reinstalled, they worked, and files were saved.

Thanks!
