4.1 on photon

idk...watched the presentation live yesterday, he was pretty clear that unless the JB upgrade degraded user experience (ie couldn't handle it), that Moto would be upgrading us to JB.

Yes, I'd thought that the bean counters (see what I did there?) probably already have figured out the costs of a JB upgrade per device model, and weighing the devices sold numbers, may already have a list of rebated phones vs. JB upgrade phones.

My hope is that now that Google appears to be publicly exerting control over Moto's direction, that they're wanting to make a visible statement of support for the devices they build...and that we'll see the benefits of that.

I'd also agree that the ICS to JB updates seem to be an easy upgrade judging by how quickly they're rolling out.

Motorola recently updated their Android OS update page and the Photon changed from "rollout begins Q4 2012" to "Further plans coming soon."

Go to Motorola's VP of Product Management's Google+ page and voice your concerns. There are many Bionic and Atrix owners voicing their concerns there and it looks like he is reading the comments and responding to some.

Interesting that the Atrix 2 was under the "further plans coming soon" and they seemed to have gotten the update (or atleast a soak test) ... I am curious to see how long we are going to have to wait

I have nothing to lose by signing up. The Photon is likely to get ICS in a month or so. If the phone can handle ICS, it seems like the upgrade to JB would be a minor incremental thing. :)

Did you sign up? Did you even get a reply from Moto (I did not)? Will the rebate be available to Sprint owners, or is this another lie?

Yes, I signed up, and got an email acknowledgement.

I swear if Motorola made the new Q a 'slider', as I have seen, I will flip a lid. I was waiting for a new Photon slate form just with beefed up specs including ICS and a GREAT camera.

Sadly... besides the fact that the Q looks like a slider... word on the forums I have seen is that the camera is lackluster. Totally bummed as I loved Motorola hardware builds. :(

Looks like you need to flip a lid. Lol

As of 10/6/2012 there are currently no plans in place for non-Verizon customers in the US for the $100 Jellybean credit program. If you live outside the U.S. there are no plans at all.

And Motorola officially dropped the ball!!!
The hell with Motorola, lying bastards!!!
Photon will stay on GB, WTF???

Unfortunately, yes, they did. And now those of us with a year remaining on our contracts are stuck with a phone that is way behind the times in terms of Android software versions.
